L. Bud Gerth


It is with sadness that the family of L. Bud Gerth announces his peaceful passing on Monday, December 25, 2017 at Monarch Hall, Parkland Shannex in Riverview.  Bud was active in the Moncton community throughout his life, having served in several groups and clubs in various capacities such as, President, Beausejour Curling Club; Director, NB Branch of Canadian Curling Association; President, Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce; Honorary President, Moncton Jaycees; Treasurer, Atl. Reg. Canadian Chamber of Commerce; President, Moncton Rotary Club; President/General Manager, Air Canada Silver Broom 1980; Executive of the Year – Moosehead Sports Award; Recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award; Chairman, Moncton 100 International Cash Bonspiel; Recipient of the Commemorative Medal for the 125th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada in recognition of significant contribution to compatriots, community and to Canada; President of the Moncton Gyro Club and an Honorary Chair of the 2009 World Men’s Curling Championship held in Moncton.  Bud is survived by his daughter, Janice (Dale); his son Brian (Florence) and grandson, Brett. In addition to his mother, Mildred, Bud was predeceased by his loving wife Geraldine Gerth (July 2017).  The family wishes to express appreciation to the nurses and staff for all their care and kindness during Dad’s stay at Monarch Hall. We would also like to thank Dr. Bandyayera for your compassion and support. A Service to celebrate and honour Bud’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Allison Carroll officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment will be held at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in the spring.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
