Irene Bernard, 96, of Villa Providence, Shediac and formerly of Gauvin Rd., Dieppe, passed away on Monday, May 14th, 2018 at her residence. Born in Egmont Bay, PEI, she was the daughter of the late Benoit and the late Delina (née: Arsenault) Cormier. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Bernard had worked as a sales lady with Carll’s. She was a former volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross; enjoyed travelling, playing cards and darts and was a member of the Dieppe Ladies Bowling League. She was a member of the Club d’Age d’Or de Dieppe and Sainte-Thérèse Parish. She is survived by one daughter, Sylvia (Gerald) Mills of Dieppe; two sons: Vincent of Dieppe and Denis (Liette) of Memramcook; four sisters: Zita (late Albert) Gallant, Imelda (Edmond) Arsenault, Ella (late Ernest) Caissie and Marguerite (late Raymond) Gallant, all of PEI; six grandchildren: Daniel, Ginette, Jason, Monique, Jesse and Sebastien; six great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Albenie in 2003; two sons: Paul and Roland; four sisters: Therese, Ella, Lucie and Corinne and also by six brothers: Antoine, Tilmon, Alyre, Joseph, Toussaint and Edmond. Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe (857-1901) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and also on Thursday from 10 am until time of departure. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Sainte-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe on Thursday, May 17th, 2018 at 11 am. Interment in Notre-Dame du Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe. Donations to a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
