Lucien "Lou" LeBlanc


Lucien "Lou" LeBlanc, 93, of Shediac passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 18th, 2020 at the Villa Providence. Born in Shediac, he was the son of the late Édouard and Alma (Belliveau) LeBlanc. Lou joined the Navy and attained the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He discovered his passion for photography and developed his eye for colour and imagery through documenting life on board HMCS Bonaventure and Magnificent Aircraft Carriers. This then afforded him a fulfilling 30 year career with Kodak in Montreal where he was affectionately known as "Monsieur Kodak".   He is survived by his two children: Dr. Roger LeBlanc of Montreal QC and Annette Tonkin (Michael O’Neill) of Ottawa ON; two grandchildren: Kendra Tonkin and Taylor Tonkin; five siblings: Alphonse and Eugène both of Moncton, Geneva Collette (Robert) of Lincoln, NB, Lucie Colucci (Frank) of Edmonton, AB, and Norbert of Wasa, BC,; two sisters-in-laws: Shirley LeBlanc of Surrey, BC and Seraphine LeBlanc of Shediac. He was predeceased by his wife, Thérèsa LeBlanc (2006); one sister and six brothers: Edith, Émile, Albert, Joe, Paul-Édouard, Alphée and Léandre. The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac from where a chapel service will be held on January 24th at 4pm. Visitation hours on January 24th will be from 2 pm to 4 pm. In memory of Lucien, a contribution to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) would be appreciated.
